Marlene Wallace - Bio

Marlene Wallace is a New York City based actor who grew up studying dance and competing as a gymnast in Pennsylvania. She attended Temple University where she graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Dance. After graduation she choreographed a dance piece which was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C. Soon thereafter, she was asked to choreograph a major theatrical production in Philadelphia and ended up also being cast in the production’s lead female role, for which she received rave reviews and was described as “Raw Talent”. Marlene decided to move to New York and study acting, where she has been working in theater, film, television, commercials and print ever since.

Her most recent film project was Discover Me, which won the Audience Award at the Chicago Film Festival. She loved working with Todd Stephens of Edge of Seventeen fame on his next project Gypsy 83, where she played Sara Rue’s mother. She also enjoyed working on Enemies of Laughter with David Paymer, which was in the Boston Film Festival, and History of the World in Eight Minutes, which was selected for the Lincoln Center New Films and Torino Film Festivals.

On stage Marlene appeared as Lee in Sam Shepard’s True West, which garnered national attention over the issue of casting women to play roles originally written for men. She was also a cast member of Sordid Lives and The Honeysuckles, both weekly sketch comedy soap operas in which she originated many characters. The Honeysuckles was picked up as a pilot by Fox and she was also in the ABC pilot Pranks.
